It’s National Public Gardens Day. Celebrate at the Atlanta Botanical Garden on what is expected to be a warm and sunny day! I’ll be out there to talk to HGTV’s Paul “The Garden Guy” James.

The latest national employment numbers are out. Ironically we’ve added jobs, but the unemployment rate went up.

Jobs Up 290,000; Jobless Rate Rises to 9.9 Pct.
WASHINGTON (AP) — More confident employers stepped up job creation in April, expanding payrolls by 290,000, the most in four years. The jobless rate rose to 9.9 percent as people streamed back into the market looking for work.

And, I’ll be talking with the folks at Yahoo! about the latest online search trends here in Atlanta. Of course, Mother’s Day (this Sunday) is one of the hottest trends out there.

But beginning in August, many of these workers will begin to go their separate ways as the company's Georgia office shuts down.

Audra Koliba's last day is September 1st. "It's really two-fold. One, we're losing our job, but two, we're losing that community and that camaraderie that is very well established," she said Wednesday.

The Komatsu employees aren't taking their fate sitting down. They've organized what they call a "reverse job fair". "Everybody's going to job fairs but we didn't want to do that," Koliba said. "So, we sought out all the companies to come look at how wonderful we are."
